What got me started on coffee...
I used to never like coffee until I was about 15 years old. My dad had at least two cups a day and couldn't stop buying new gadgets to "make the coffee better". I loved the smell, but every sip I took it was so strong. He got my sisters into loving it and wanting it all the time. We did practically have a coffee bar in our kitchen. We had a whole section of whole and ground coffee beans, a milk frother, several flavorings, an espresso maker, a pour over maker, a French press, an aeropress, two different coffee makers, a hand and electric grinder, and so much more. I obviously got hooked with my dad always asking if I wanted some. I really started liking it towards the end of high school in the morning to keep me up the whole day. Now in college I need some at night to keep me awake to study and then in the morning after getting little sleep. I am not a morning person so I now need a cup of coffee to start my day. My sisters like to be more creative with their coffees and I’m starting to get into it. One of my sisters gets me trying everything like lavender syrup, Turmeric and milk simmered and frothed, adding ginger, and a bunch more flavors she messed with. I try to be adventurous and at least taste all she makes when we are home, but I still like to stick with my simple black coffee with sometimes a little milk. My mom is the only one who does not like coffee in our house. My dad has tried many times, she just doesn’t get the obsession. Most of my family is big coffee drinkers. Whenever we are together for a big dinner everyone will have decaf with their deserts. My cousins are the ones that show my dad what they use so he can order more gadgets to add to the collection. I even learned at a young age how to brew coffee and the difference between caffeinated coffee (regular) and decaf coffee so I would be able to make it if need be. What also helped to get me started is if I would go to a little local coffee shop or coffee franchises with friends I would try to see if there would be something I liked. I slowly learn where I like coffee from the best, what to order, and what I don’t like. I do not like frappuccinos, I don’t know why because I like slushies and smoothies, but I have yet to have one I like. I do prefer my drinks iced unless it's cold and I want something hot to warm me up. How did you get started on drinking coffee?
