The best coffee places near me (All in Ohio)

At Muskingum University there are not many places in walking distance to get coffee, actually there is only one really, Chapman’s Coffee House. It may be one of my favorite places to go around here. I really like their iced vanilla latte and their dirty chai latte. Those that do not know, a latte is espresso with steamed milk. They have many pastries, salads, sandwiches, and many other drinks. Their drinks that don’t involve coffee, for the non coffee lovers out their include: teas, smoothies, and pop. I feel like we all have a friend that doesn’t like coffee, I know I do. Their pastries are handmade brownies, muffins, scones, cookies, poptarts, and many more depending on the day. Besides Chapmans there are the usual coffee places like Starbucks, Tim Hortons, Circle K, and any regular breakfast/ lunch restaurants that sell coffee that you can drive to. A café I enjoy in Zanesville is the Walk Café and Bakery. They have many breakfast items, I have only been once, but their breakfast burrito was amazing. I never can find a place that sells good and fresh breakfast burritos. Their coffee was very good too, but I also just got a black coffee which is difficult to mess up. I have heard their cinnamon roll pancakes are tasty too. I have been looking up other places to get coffee to see if I can find a place or drink I like better. Most places are found in Zanesville, but that is no surprise as it has a lot more places to go than the cities that surround it. The few places that I have put on my list to go to is the Brew Baker Café, Jazzman’s Café, and East End Café. Some other places my friends have recommended are Ladders coffee in Cambridge, West Street coffee in Caldwell, and Stocked in Marietta. Stocked coffee is one of the favorite places students from Marietta college like to enjoy their coffee. On my college visits I did get to try some delicious coffee places. My favorite place I have tried was probably in Oxford. The place was called Kofenya, it had some great drinks and I really liked the atmosphere there. Some of the better coffee places I enjoy involve a drive, that’s why I don’t always get to try different things. In Columbus one of my favorite coffee places is Fox In The Snow. I like to get their lattes with almond milk and croissant morning buns.

Places around the world I have gotten coffee from!

          I have been able to travel a little in my life and there are some amazing and different places to try coffee. In Salt Lake City, Utah, Café Thao Mi has great iced vanilla coffees. I did not get any food, but their selection looked great. I spend a lot of my summers in Wareham, Massachusetts, so I have found a couple good places around there. I obviously get Dunkin a lot, it is also right down the street from where we stay so it is easy and quick to go to. I am basic there and get an iced vanilla coffee with one cream and one sugar. I also like to get their plain bagels with strawberry cream cheese or the vanilla frosted sprinkles donut. Uncle Jon’s Coffee in Marion is another place around Wareham I like to go to. Their bakery selection looks delicious and sells fast, I sometimes don’t wake up early enough to get some. They have a big selection of smoothies too, ranging from strawberry to peanut butter cup. My favorite way to make espresso

I am a big fan of the aeropress, it is a different brewing method for coffee/espresso. The aeropress contains several parts. A filter cap is either where a paper filter, that is made specific to fit the size of the aeropress, can be placed or where a replaceable filter will go (**Make sure the replaceable filter has the correct side up). The chamber is what the filter cap twists onto and is where the coffee grounds and water will be put. A plunger with a seal attached to it will be forced down the chamber to push the water through the filter. The filter has to be there so no grounds end up in the final product. A funnel is an important kitchen utensil that will make transferring the grounds and water into the chamber easier and less messy. A stirrer is important to have to mix the grounds and water in the chamber before inserting the plunger. This will get rid of air bubbles so more water can be added and it allows the mixture to be more evenly concentrated. It is extremely easy to use

Differences between hot and iced coffees

          Surprisingly, there are more differences in hot and iced coffee than one would have thought. The temperature is the obvious one. Hot coffee can burn your tongue and warm you up, while iced coffee is refreshing. Iced coffee can also be brewed hot or cold and hot coffee is only brewed hot. The difference in taste is dependent on how it is brewed. A hot brew produces a more acidic coffee as it has a faster brewing process. Cold brew is less bitter and more of a subtle taste. Iced coffee is said to be healthier as it being less acidic is easier on the stomach and intestines. Yet, hot brew is supposed to extract more antioxidants, whether hot or cold brew is healthier is unknown.  Cold brewing methods will extract more caffeine from the grounds due to the amount of time it spends steeping. The type of bean is another factor, but that is for a different blog.  Ice coffee takes longer to brew as steeping takes hours and hot brewing the coffee then chilling it will still take longer.
